The VDS3000 provides a complete video system for police and emergency vehicles and includes:
Front Camera
Mobile Computer with TechAlt Video Browser
Digital Video Recorder
Wireless Microphone
Rear Camera
Covert Rear Microphone
Grill Indicator Lights

Front camera
Because the front camera has full 360° rotational capability, you can use this camera to record video at any angle outside the vehicle. The video data is recorded by the DVR installed inside the video vault in the vehicles trunk.
Wireless microphone and charger
The wireless microphone charger is installed on the console of your vehicle. When in use, the microphone clips to your belt or holster. The lapel microphone cable connector plugs into the wireless microphone at your waist; the microphone clips to your lapel. The microphone picks up audio data up to 500 feet away from your vehicle, and transmits the data through the charger to the DVR in your vehicles trunk. Because each microphone can transmit recorded data only through its unique charger, multiple wireless microphones can be in use at a scene without interfering with each other.
VDS*3000 digital video recorder
The digital video recorder (DVR) resides inside the reinforced steel video vault installed in your vehicles trunk. The video data from your vehicles camera is transmitted directly to the DVR in your vehicles trunk. The audio data picked up by your wireless microphone is transmitted through its charger to the DVR. Data is stored permanently on DVD.
Mobile Computer
The mobile computer is mounted on your vehicles console. The computer ships with TechAlts live video and video playback software already installed. Use the software on your mobile computer to control your vehicles video recording equipment and to copy recorded still images from video into other programs.
Rear camera, with microphone
The rear camera is installed behind your vehicles front seat, facing the rear seat. Because the rear camera is equipped with infrared illuminators, it can record video data of events in the vehicles rear seat even under very low light conditions. The cameras microphone is sensitive enough to pick up even the smallest sound from anywhere inside your vehicle. The video and audio data from the rear camera and microphone is recorded on DVD by the DVR in your vehicles trunk.
Grill indicator lights
The indicator lights are installed behind your vehicles front grillwork so they are visible from in front of the vehicle. The green indicator light illuminates when data from the front camera is being recorded by the DVR. The amber indicator light illuminates when the wireless microphone is picking up audio data.
